The show begins with the birth of Venice, raised from the see like Venus, followed by the others most important events of its history: the commerce with the Orient, the war with the Turkish empire for the dominion of the Mediterranean sea, the splendour of arts and the refined way of life in its golden age, ending at our days when Venice, not any more admired for its political power and wealth, never the less remains a jewel in the worlds heritage, where,  especially during the big feasts, like the Carnival, celebrates its never ending beauty, and time seems to hold its breath for a while. The entire story is narrated during a conventional day, from the down till the night, and interlaced with a love story between a young noble foreigner and two ladies both in love with him.
